The High Court levied a penalty of Rs 50,000 as fine for not having an Internal Committee in place and asked the Employer to pay Rs 25 lakhs to the victim of sexual harassment. This case was also reported in the news.

A relationship gone sour
Priya and Rohit worked together in the same company. Their closeness soon blossomed into a relationship. A year passed. Things changed. Priya opted out. Rohit wasn’t willing to let go. He kept messaging her despite her repeated refusal. Priya filed a complaint of sexual harassment.

Blackmail leads to suicide
In UP's Moradabad district a girl tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. She was taking this step after her boyfriend had threatened her that he would post her objectionable photos online if she didn’t have sex with his friends or pay him Rs 50,000. She had been in a relationship since 4 months. This happened in Aug 2021. Her attempt left her paralysed waist down.
Fake admission
A student from Goa was aspiring for admission to medical college. He received an email which appeared it had been sent from the medical college informing that he has been granted admission. He was asked to pay Rs 10 lakhs. Since he didn’t want to lose admission he made the payment. When he got to the college, he found out that he had been cheated. He filed a complaint with the Cyber Police in Goa.
Paying for intimate chats
A middle-aged person in Visakhapatnam was lured by a woman to have a nude video chat with her. Next day the blackmail started and he was threatened to pay up or else the video would go online. He ended up paying Rs 24 lakhs in different accounts provided by the scammers.
